Dr. Sarah K. Gardner, PsyD, NCC, is a licensed psychologist in Maryland, a pediatric neuropsychologist, a nationally certified counselor, and an author. She has published in the International Journal of Choice Theory/Reality Therapy and is the author of a quote-a-day book, Moments of Clarity: Thoughts for Reflection, and I AM Resilient! Sid the Skunk's Superb Skills in Mental Toughness. She specializes in neurodevelopmental disorders (especially autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities) and provides psychological evaluations and mental health counseling services to individuals of all ages.
She earned her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Gardner obtained two years of postdoctoral training in the field of pediatric neuropsychology at Moore Counseling Center in Moore, Oklahoma. She has a master of science degree in clinical psychology from Argosy University and a master of arts degree in clinical mental health counseling from Johns Hopkins University. Additional certifications and training include a postbaccalaureate degree from Towson University in autism studies and a certificate in choice theory/reality theory from the William Glasser Institute. Dr. Gardner earned her undergraduate degree with a major in psychology and a minor in gerontology from Towson University.
Inspired by her therapy work with her patients, Dr. Gardner created this book to help children learn how to identify emotions in others through facial expressions. Although this book can be read to any child, Dinosaur Feelings is designed to be used with very young children or with children with intellectual disabilities or autism.
